Dani California

Wow, has it really been that long since I've posted?? I'm horrible...

Things have been good. Work is good. They found out that I'm good with computers (meaning I know how to turn it off and turn it back on and then people think I "fixed" it). They were also impressed with my Excel skills. So now I'm in charge of making the doctor's schedule on the computer and printing out the technician's schedule. And now I'm the one people call when the computer is acting up. I don't mind, but I really don't thing I do anything special.

I went to see the Red Hot Chili Peppers last night with Stephanie. They are AMAZING live. I saw them once before and they were awesome then too. They just have so much energy and Flea... How the heck does he move around like that at his age? I can't believe he's a dad. They played a song that reminds me of Lauren when I hear it (Parallel Universe - the lyric "you can die but you're never dead"). And she's the one who introduced me to them all those years ago. She listened to "weird" music. Man, I'm glad I was introduced to good stuff - I was listening to Debbie Gibson and NKOTB and Mariah Carey, etc. Remember Milli Vanilli? Yeah, I have their tape...

Anyway, it was a lot of fun...

Last weekend I went up to Frisco to spend the day with my parents. I actually got my mom to go hiking! She'd never been as far as I know - not real hiking. We went up Mt. Royal to Masontown - an old mining town site that was taken out by an avalanche and you can still see remnants of homes - bricks and metal strewn about. And old mining holes and there's this big sinkhole from the tunnels underneath. I was very proud of her - it wasn't the easiest trail for a beginner at altitude. My dad has pictures to prove it - I'll try to get them to post them.

I have more pictures of Herman's Gulch to post too. Lara and I went up there 2 weekends ago and she took pictures. Hers will be better than mine because she has a better camera and she's really into photography. Maybe she'll let me post some of hers.

Next weekend I'm going camping, so stay tuned...

So life has been pretty normal. Work is going well - very busy but getting into the swing of things even more. Next week I get to learn how to be receptionist. I'm not looking forward to that. Let's just say our clients are not the easiest to deal with, and I don't like people getting mad at me, but I guess we all have to take our turn.

I spent last weekend up at Frisco. Took the dogs on a hike but the bugs were out in full force. It was too much like the east coast! Little gnats hovering around my face - I didn't think to bring bug spray, you just don't need it that much in CO. But the weekend was good. I came back early to see The Full Monty at the Arvada Center with Lara. It was hiLARious!!! We were in the 3rd row, so it was a little close for comfort at times, but all in all, it was great. I highly recommend that show to anyone. Even better than the movie.

Other exciting news - I reserved a kayak!!!! The shops all have boats that people can try out (called demo's) and at the end of the season they sell them cheaper. I had gone to Confluence Kayaks to talk to Scott and he had me sit in a bunch of them, and the one I liked the best was a Jackson 2 Fun. I called August 1st to put my deposit on one and I got one! I can't pick it up until after Labor Day, but then I can still at least take it out on the lake and practice strokes and maybe rolling. I used the money left over from the daycare ending, so I deserve a present.

Anyway, Lara and I are hiking Herman's Gulch tomorrow so I need to rest up. It's one of the harder hikes. But I need the exercise!
