The Process Continues

Well, I'm still looking for a job and getting quite stir crazy. I did however score an interview at Alameda East Vet Hospital. This is the hospital where they shoot E-Vet Interns on Animal Planet. It's also where I did my internship before graduating from tech school. It's a totally new hospital and another specialty place. Unfortunately, it doesn't solve my problem of a commute (it's in Aurora, about a 30 minute drive). However, they do have an attached dog daycare and they are less strict about you bringing your dogs. After 3 months, I'd get 50% off of daycare. And if I get the swing ER shift (4:30pm - 12:30am), I wouldn't have to worry about traffic as much.

So we'll see. If I get the job, there's a good chance I'll be on tv - in the background holding an animal of some sort.

I'm still emailing that guy from MySpace. It's a bit crazy how much we have in common. Except our politics I think, but we haven't gotten into politics. I just saw that he's ultra conservative and enjoys guns. He was in the military. But, differences can be good, that's how we learn about other viewpoints, right? Hmmm. If you want to be a stalker and check him out, here's his profile...

Had my followup with my personal trainer. I've lost 3 pounds and have lost body fat percentage. Too bad I can't remember how much, but at least I went in the right direction. I'm a sucker and bought more sessions with him. But I'll stretch them out more and only see him once a week. Since I've had no job, I've met with him twice a week and my 5 introductory sessions were over in only 3 weeks. But he's helping me and in 10 more weeks I should be at my goal.

I'll let you know how my interview goes on Thursday!

A Winter Wonderland

So, it snowed yet again yesterday. I don't have anywhere else to shovel this stuff. The pile on the side of my driveway is taller than me, which makes it harder and harder to throw it up there. Usually after a snowfall in Denver, it just melts the next day, but not this winter. Oh well, at least our draught situation will be much better this summer! And the rivers will be higher - which means as I try to get into kayaking more, I'll have less chance of hitting a rock when I flip over!

I went up to Winter Park for the first time. It was great weather and snow conditions, but it was so confusing to get around. I will study the map for the next time I go up. I'll be going up on the ski train next month with some friends. It's cool, it leaves from downtown and winds up into the mountains and the scenery is supposed to be amazing. I felt bad for the friend I was with b/c she wasn't feeling well and we kept trying to get to where we started and kept going in circles.

I've become a bit addicted to MySpace. If any of you guys have a profile, I expect you to be my friends!!!! I only have 2 friends and I feel a little sad about it. I spent all day yesterday making my profile pretty, adding layouts and a special cursor, a song and a picture slideshow. It was a good day to stay inside.

I went out with a guy from Match.com on Friday. He and I have been writing to each other. We just met at a hockey game. Ok, if you're meeting someone for the first time, wouldn't you pop a mint in your mouth? Wow. Every time he talked, toxic fumes washed over me! I hate dating... He was ok otherwise, but we'll see. Seems more like friend material.

I just started writing to someone on MySpace yesterday. He has some great pictures up, not only of himself, but he has pictures of his cats! Any guy who loves his kitties enough to post them on Myspace is a friend of mine... We'll see where that goes.

Anyway... the gym thing is still going. I have my last personal trainer session tomorrow. That guy is good - he makes me hurt for like 2-3 days afterwards. But in a good way. I like being sore, it makes me feel like I accomplished something. I haven't lost a lot around the tummy, but I guess it's only been 3 weeks. I did lose about 3 pounds. And I have to say, those baked cheetos and baked doritos are darn good!

The Cone Zone

So, this is really silly and a testiment to the fact that it's the little things in life that make you happy. Late Night with Conan O'Brien now comes on right after Jay Leno in Denver!!! Now, I'm sure most of you who may watch these shows are thinking - he always does, but no, not here. Our prime time starts at 7 instead of 8, so Jay came on at 10:35p. Then, because the morning shows come on at the same time, they had to make up for the hour, and used to put an episode of Cheers in between Leno and Conan. Which made it way too late for me to stay up. Now that he comes on right after Leno, I can watch him, at least for a little bit.

I need a life...

So, Jonny called me last night out of the blue. I haven't talked to him since before Christmas. And on Christmas, I texted him and he texted me back. No contact since. If I don't hear from someone after 2 weeks, then I pretty much think I never will. So imagine my surprise when I see that it's him. He called to apologize about New Year's (I had emailed him an invitation to our night out). I guess he had some friends come into town and things "got crazy." So... I guess things aren't totally over there. Whether we just become friends or more, there's still hope. But, if his intention is more, then I need to see him more than once every 3-4 weeks. I just get too bored, and I need to spend time with someone to fully feel comfortable and come out of that shell I live in.

Anyway... Hope you're all warmer than me - it dipped into the negatives last night. I'll take cold over more snow at this point!

The Job Search Continues...

So, I had an interview at Goldenview last week after the one at Mesa. Then I already did my working interview at Goldenview on Monday. It seemed a little boring to be quite honest. And a LOT of birds/exotics. Certain things were a little behind the times, like vaccinating every single year, but that's not a huge deal. There's only one doctor, so Monday was only appointments and Thursdays are no appointments, only emergencies and surgery. I could see myself going a little crazy with so little to do.

I called Mesa today to see where they are in their search, so that if I know they are not interested in me, I would take the Goldenview job. She's just been busy so we set up a work day next Monday, and I hope it goes well, because that place seems a lot better. More my style and pace. There are 6 doctors and the shift is M - Th noon til 10. I liked my noon til 8pm shift at Care and I'd always have a 3 day weekend! Well, most of the time, I'd have to work occasional weekends, but that's typical in the business.

On my time off, I've built my guinea pig a new cage. I feel bad for the little guy in his little cage all by his lonesome and now he actually has room to run around! I put pictures on Shutterfly so check out the link.

I also decided to join a gym. My friend Shauna is training for a triathalon and so I decided to join hers so I can meet her there. Upon sign up, they let you meet with a personal trainer 5 times. I had my first session yesterday and of course, he's the cutest guy ever (has a girlfriend though). As weird as that is, it does make me whine less and try harder. I am determined to fit in my normal pants again!

Oh, and my birthday was good. We went to the Vesta Dipping Grill in downtown Denver and it was soooo good! A little expensive, but worth it. Basically your dinner comes with 3 dipping sauces that you choose. Then we went out to the bar. We met up with a girl we went to college with, she hung out with our crowd, but I wasn't really friends with her. But it was nice to see her, and she may be moving out here as well! That will be a total of 4 Bucknellians, and Dana may be 5 someday. A little wierd, but in a good way!

Happy New Year!

Well, hope everyone had a great New Year. We went out to celebrate both the New Year and also my friend Stephanie's birthday. I actually curled my hair and made an effort to look girly. We started out at Namiko's, a japanese restaurant. Then we went to Fado Irish Pub to spend most of the night. It was a lot of fun. We then tried to make our way to our favorite bar, but since the lightrail took forever to show up, we arrived just as they were closing. Oh well. Then I drove everyone home as I was the designated driver. I figured I didn't want to have a hangover the next day, so I might as well be the responsible one - and next weekend will be my turn as it's my birthday!!

I went snowboarding with my friend from my last job - Lisa. Hey, the good thing about job hopping is meeting new friends! I finally have people to go with this year so I'm so excited. It was my 6th time up this season. It was so sunny and beautiful, although a little crowded and icy. But, all in all, it was great. Too bad they didn't get the snow that Denver did the past 2 weeks!

I had an interview at Mesa today and it went really well. I really liked this place, and I also like the position's hours and duties. It's the noon til 10pm shift, so I only have to deal with afternoon procedures and cleanup stuff, which is what I like to do. I guess she's interviewing today and tomorrow and will set up working interviews after that. Hopefully I'll get a call Friday or Monday. So cross your fingers for me!!!

I also have an interview tomorrow at Goldenview. This place deals a lot with birds/reptiles, which I haven't worked with in years, but that would make things interesting. I like birds/reptiles, I'm just not used to them. And the big loud birds are very intimidating.

Well, that's about it. Hope everyone had a good holiday season!
