The Wrong Path??
So, I took Bethany to see Dr. Cuddon today (the neurologist who "fixed" Pacey). I love that man. He just makes me feel better about life. He has this soft spoken voice with a slight accent and he makes me feel like there's hope. And he remembered Pacey!
He thinks these could actually be fainting episodes due to a heart problem. He noticed she had an arrhythmia and when he watched the videos, he felt like they could be more of a fainting spell. And lack of oxygen to the brain b/c of the arrhythmia can cause seizures too. Also, even if it was a brain tumor, the drugs should be working right now. So maybe the drugs aren't working b/c we're treating the wrong problem. So before we do an MRI, we will do an echo and a workup of her heart. It would sure be nice to take her off of the Keppra since that's given every 8 hours. I have a curfew now.
I saw the movie "300" on Sunday night at the IMAX theater. It was SOOOO good! I'm not a huge fan of war type movies, I get bored with the excessive killing. But it was really good the way they shot it. I highly recommend it.

Dr. Cuddon used to be my dog's neurologist. He is an exceptionally gifted doctor.
Be careful of his "assistant" (I pray she's gone by now). She is incompetent, sleeping with the boss, and if she feels you are a threat, will go to extreme measures to insure that your messages and FAXes get "lost" and "misfiled."
I'm so sorry your pup is having problems. It is absolutely devastating to deal with something like that, then to realize your dog's treatment was based on "lab results" which were fabricated. Request that HE do any tests himself, even the most mundane things like blood pressure and urine tests, and don't let her ever suspect you like him. She'll burn you at the expense of your dog's health.
Wow, sorry you had such a bad experience, but the tech today seemed great. And since I'm a vet tech working at another hospital, I am the one doing all the lab tests myself. And the doctors I work with speak with him directly.
Being a tech, I can't imagine anyone acting like that.
That's great you're doing the lab work yourself; you have a world class vet neuro AND reliable lab results for him to go by. And perhaps the tech I had to deal with is no longer there.
Dr. Cuddon literally saved my boy's life, and I will always appreciate him beyond words for that. It just totally destroyed me to be forced to leave. But when questionable things started happening every single time I tried to have contact with his office over a period of months, some of his other clients and I started putting things together. I had never had any problems like this before in the years before that I was his client.
Bad situations happen, that's just life. But when it jeopardizes the treatment of your pet, action has to be taken -- no matter how much it hurts you.
Very best wishes to you and your pup! It's heartbreaking when you're going through this, but you also develop a very special bond with your companion you wouldn't otherwise have had.
